Highlights of 2009

Main Road

Ah... on the island again. Wonder where the road will lead this year?

Orange Night Winner!

A very close race this year... if only a certain contestant had been present for the final judging, the outcome might have been different. But we'll never know.

The First Annual "Big O" Award

...was awarded to Carla House for outstanding organization by a over-the-top, omnipotent (w)o-man. Oh!

Speaking of Oh...

Oh, my goodness -- this was a big gator. Lucky for us, also a recently-fed and sleepy gator. Wonder what gators daydream about?

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble

Except, there was nothing bubbling, precious little toiling and not a hint of trouble -- only fireworks, ghost stories and constellation-hunting.

AND a very interesting talk on a bio-mass energy by Jill Stuckey, Director of Alternative Fuels with the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority.

The Experience of Ossabaw

"...Woodstorks are clicking their bills together and preparing to build their sticky nests above alligator guards.  Great and Snowy Egrets are creating fan dances in their gorgeous spring feathers.  Vultures are decorating the remains of a tree in a bulbous display of hulking black, and Pileated Woodpeckers are calling and calling.  Stocky dark pigs are leading their young ones through the woods, and deer are flitting their tails at any sound.  And it will all be there when we return..." ~Janet Weeks
