About the Ladies of Ossabaw

Who are the Ladies of Ossabaw?

They are a sweeping cross-section of age and artistic experience.

They are a hardy lot -- serious-minded artists who love the outdoors.

Did we mention they also love a good hot dinner with a glass of wine (or two) and stimulating conversation? In fact, you could call the conversation downright, uh, spirited.

The Ladies of Ossabaw are brought together every year by the renowned Atlanta artist and teacher Carla House who manages to put together an amazingly congenial group, year after year.

The annual trip to Ossabaw has become an important milestone for many. It is a time of artistic inspiration and creative renewal, a welcome retreat from families, jobs, and traffic. Living on Ossabaw for a few days allows body and mind and spirit to reconnect and relax into a quieter, slower pace.

And what would a proper group of Ladies be without a handsome prince? Jim Bitler, Logistics Coordinator and Caretaker for the Ossabaw Island Foundation, has been our handsome prince since the 2004 trip.

Jim attends to our safety and well-being, and has shared with us his favorite spots. Ossabaw is a very big place and it's nice to have a prince who knows his way around.
